What’s up it’s Elliott Connie and I’m back with another edition of Solutions Every Day. I took a week off. I was teaching an intensive with my colleague, my guy, Adam Froerer, but I’m super excited to be back with another edition of Solutions Every Day. And today I want to talk about how you respond to setbacks.
So I got, I mean, I’m tempted to call it bad news, but I got some news today that I do not experience as good news. I think it’s an over statement to consider it bad news, but it’s certainly a setback. And several people have called me today kind of checking in about how I’m responding to the setback or how the setback impacts me. And it caused me to spend a lot of time today thinking about how do we respond to setbacks?
How should we respond to setbacks? What’s the best way to respond to setbacks. And, and I think here’s where I’ve landed. I am not entitled to a smooth path towards the accomplishment of any one of my goals. None of you, none of us are. I am not delusional enough to believe that every thing I aspire to achieve will go easily or even should go easily.
I believe that the road towards success and the more meaningful to success, the more likely the road is to have setbacks or bumps in it. So in a way I anticipate as I’m working really hard to achieve certain things, I anticipate that it’s going to be hard to achieve it. And thus the road towards success is going to have bumps in it. So it’s not necessarily about feeling bad, disappointed, or angry about having something difficult happen. I was a bit bummed when I got it, but very quickly found myself in like doer mode, like being motivated, angry, and triggered to like, let’s just go get this. Let’s let this motivate us. And let’s go.
I rallied my team and we’ve already had conversations and developmented a plan and how we’re going to go forward and make this dream that we’re working on a reality. So I think that’s kind of where I landed. Like it’s really important that we acknowledge that success is not entitled to be smooth. The road towards success is not entitled to be easy. It’s going to take work. It’s going to take a lot of work to achieve the things you want and the more meaningful those things are that you want to achieve, then the more you should expect to be prepared to overcome obstacles on your way.
So we’re really working, like my company, we work on making dreams happen. Like we work on fulfilling dreams at my company, Anna and I being the leaders of the company. And my team is great. Adam, Helen Taylor, my assistant Del. We worked really hard on making our dreams come true. Like we run around the company that this is our dream company. We want to be like the dream team. We want everybody to love their job and want the people that we serve to love the way we serve them. And we work really hard to accomplish certain things in that pathway. And sometimes it’s hard and sometimes there are setbacks and sometimes you get news you don’t want, but we never stop moving forward.
