What’s up everybody. It is Elliott Connie and welcome to this edition of Solutions Every Day live. And so something really cool I’m going to tell you about today before I do, I’m just going to celebrate for a second. We just opened registration for our Fall conference that we call the Solution Focused Showcase hosted by my organization, The SFU, and in the first 30 hours, we’ve had just about 1100 people sign up. So this is going to be a crazy event. I’m super excited. This is going to be super duper, duper, duper dope. So anyway, thank you guys for all your support and all your enthusiasm. Really excited.
Second thing I want to tell you is during this week, I am teaching an intensive, our level two training with Adam Froerer and Cecil Walker, and we’re having a great time teaching. And somebody said something today that I thought was really profound. So when you start learning Solution Focused Brief Therapy, you get really focused on how to do it. You get really focused on like the techniques and the theory and the principles and understanding everything.
And it’s very, very common that sometimes that focus actually becomes a distraction from learning how to actually do the work. And there’s a woman in the audience named, well, probably shouldn’t say her name. There was a woman in the audience and she is a classically trained musician. And Cecil is also a classically trained musician and they made the point that in the music world they will often say that anybody can learn to play the notes, but you have to work in practice to learn how to play music. And that really stuck with me because I think the same thing is true with Solution Focused Brief Therapy. If you get overly focused on the techniques and the theory and the principles and the guidelines, like that’s kind of like just playing the notes, you know, that’s like in the beginning of your art career, it’s like coloring by numbers.
But after you study new practice and you study and you practice and you study and you practice, eventually you get it like in your bones and you become like a Solution Focused musician. So I want you guys to understand that, like sure, focus and study and learn about the theory and the history and all those things about the Solution Focused approach, but understand my job is to get the approach in my bones so I can become a Solution Focused musician and become an artist within the approach. That’s why we study this stuff. That’s what we’re hoping for you to get. And that’s, that’s where the mastery of Solution Focused Brief Therapy lies. So I want your guys to understand that. That is super important.
So thank you guys for watching this video. And by the way, I’m sorry. I didn’t make a video yesterday. I do a video every day. Sorry I didn’t make one yesterday, but I had a Covid booster shot and it killed me. I literally slept about 18 hours yesterday dealing with this shot. At the advice of my doctor, because I spend some time on airplanes these days going to events as events are going back to being live. I’m in Atlanta now, and I’m going to Nebraska later this week or tomorrow even. I wanted to make sure I took care of myself. So I got a booster shot and I wasn’t super scared of it or worried about it because I had the first two shots and they just made me tired.
This one, I was achy. I had the shivers, it was terrible. So sorry I missed the day doing the video. Won’t let it happen again. Thanks for watching video, like and share this video, subscribe to my Facebook or like my Facebook page, subscribe to my Youtube Channel. And I’ll see you in the next video.
